Review by hotel critic
During my recent city break at Jasmine Cottage in the picturesque village of Gilling, I was pleasantly surprised by the cosy, yet surprisingly spacious design that beckoned relaxation after a day's cycling through the beautiful English countryside. The cottage, neat and beautifully furnished, offered all the comforts one could desire; from a well-equipped kitchen with a dining table perfect for meals with friends, to a comfortable sitting area where we could unwind after exploring local historical sites. The host was exceptionally welcoming, providing lovely touches like complimentary milk, tea, and biscuits, which added a homely charm. Communication was effortless, making the stay even more enjoyable. The cottage features modern amenities, including a flat-screen TV for nights in, and the serene quiet of the surroundings ensured I slept like a log—just what any history professor needs after indulging in a day of exploration. For anyone keen on visiting the region, Jasmine Cottage serves as an ideal base due to its proximity to various attractions like the Forbidden Corner, all while being just 27 km from Teesside International Airport. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem for those seeking a relaxing retreat, with the added benefit of sharing stories over a meal at the large kitchen table.
